Friday is the Royal Wedding!!!

Am I excited?  Why yes, yes I am!!  Lady Diana was one of my favorite people.  I admired her for her beauty and grace and the incredible way she reached out and touched peoples lives.  I was amazed at her ability to love all the children wherever she went and lift the lives of those in need!  I am sure she will be at her sons wedding in spirit!

But, today in little Colbert, Georgia life goes on pretty much as always.  And there is nothing wrong with that either.  Joy dropped by and admired my scarf which made me laugh a little.  This is just a plain scarf  that I tied with my daughters scrunchie....then "voila!"  Nice accent and a little different look.
With the heat we have had lately this was a cooler option for a
splash of color than a cardigan also.

Sequin Tunic-Wet Seal: Recycled
Scarf: PS Too
Jeans: Target- Merona-Fit 1 (these are currently available and very comfy!)
Scrunchie: From my daughter Kaja's room
Sandals:  BR-Recycled

Just add a scrunchie and you're done!

So, will you be watching the Royal Wedding tomorrow?  Some of it?  All of it?
Are you tired of everything and wonder why the Royals are still in the news?
I spent time with Ida today and I think she said it best "Well, it doesn't matter if you live in a palace or a cardboard box, as long as you believe in God.  We are all equal"
I just love my MIL, Ida!

Uninspired

Is it just me or is anyone else feeling uninspired lately? In fall and winter, you can change up an outfit by just adding a scarf, wearing a different sweater. In warm weather, it's just not that easy. It's too hot to wear too many layers and I just can't wear a scarf around my neck when it's hot. It's sad that I'm not feeling inspired because I LOVE LOVE LOVE hot weather. Maybe I'm just in a creative slump.

I did get my hair cut, though, and that made me feel better. Lise wasn't feeling well, so Grant stepped in and did a fabulous job. It's nice having not one, but TWO friends that can cut your hair! Have you ever listened to hairdressers talk to each other, though. I swear they are speaking another language.

So here's a (boring) outfit roundup from the last few days.

 Tee: Kohl's
Shorts: I have no idea

Now I'm off to read your blogs to try to find some inspiration!  Oh, think about us tomorrow. Ben is having LASIX done on BOTH of his eyes!! He's excited and scared, too, I think!

I'll Take Some "Blue" Dressing On My Garden Greens

I am so excited about the gorgeous weather and inspired by the sun!  Time to get outside and work on the "Tyner Botanical Gardens".  What?  You don't think I'm dressed for gardening?
Uhm....I'm wearing jeans for heavens sake!
And by the way, these are like the most comfortable jeans (and cute)...EVER!  And they are from Target!!!  I would like to take credit for this fabulous find, but actually this very fashionable lady shows up at my house looking incredibly cute (It was Joy) and she confides in me ('cause that's what we do) that they are from Target (love me some Target).  Now you know too....so go to Target and get a pair!

I love this color blue!  I think its my favorite.  When I saw this shirt while thrifting (it's from twentyone),  I knew I had to have it since it was my favorite color and had this great detailing.  Then I found this fabulous necklace which is gray, but adds a great accent!  I am also wearing my new favorite lip shade.  It's Clinique-"Nearly Violet".  It is one of those colors that would look good on about everybody!!  I add a little clear gloss on top and am in love with the result.

This is my helper for the day in the gardens.  And I always have a moment for a hug before watering!

Look!  Everything is starting to bloom!  I love spring!!

Ok, this one is sooooo posed!  LOL   But, I am really handy with a rake.
And with this being Easter weekend, I really feel like it is a special time and that spring has officially arrived!
Have a wonderful, and safe Easter weekend Y'all!

What's Black and White and Read All Over?

ME!

Polka dot shirt: Goodwill
White capris: Lands End
Sandals: Target

I don't really have anything to talk about! Me? Speechless? Unheard of, right? I've just been busy, busy, busy. Yesterday was a very relaxing day, though. I had breakfast with the crew at The Bread Basket, came home, did a little housework, read in the sun for a few hours, napped with Jakey on the couch and just enjoyed the solitude of the day. I didn't even turn on the tv or get online. It was bliss. Then everyone came home... LOL
Anyone have any big plans for Easter? We usually eat with my mama and just hang out. My kids are too old to care about egg hunts anymore. It's kinda sad. Speaking of Easter eggs, I kinda look like one here.

It's Sandal Weather!!

It's time for open toed shoes, sandals and flip flops! I LOVE LOVE this time of year! I have been more than ready to say goodbye to boots, tights and closed toe shoes!  I've even got a few new pair of shoes this year. I'm posting a sample of them below. And I just got 2 more pair today at Goodwill!! SCORE!!

And open toe shoe weather also means it's time for pedicures!! I really don't like people to touch my feet but I do like pedicures. Well, I like the end product so I put up with someone touching my feet. Here's my toes right now. This is what Lise and I got done on our toes a couple of weeks ago.  BTW, Lise? It's time for another trip, I think!

Hooray For Dollywood!

Oh Yeah! Bring it on.  I love the Scrambler!  It's been my favorite ride since I was old enough to ride it and I can NOT pass it up! LOL
But here is a real secret....don't tell anyone or anything.  I love to "get" people.  I love the "Gotcha" moment.  And people try to get me, but it usually doesn't work out.....until....Dollywood and the Bird Show.
I am picked out of the audience and then somehow end up dancing or something and THEN he gets me to lay down on the stage...really.  And I do.  Do you know what is all over the stage? (hint: It's a bird show).
I try to get up and he tells me that I have to lay there and pretend to be a dead carcass for the Vulture.
W H A T???
I do what I am told and lay back down...on the stage...ewwww.
Then he sets this whole thing up and asks me why I am laying down on the dirty stage.
"Because you told me too"  I say
"Well, you should get up because you look silly down there"
GOTCHA-Lise!  (My kids think this is the best!)

You want me to WHAT?

I have no idea why I am dancing

Annnnndddd....I'm laying down...on the stage

Still there

Gotcha!  And guess what comes next?

I get to "catch" the Vulture!  He is beautiful!!!

Did I mention that it was like 38 degrees the whole day? (this explains my boring but slightly warm outfit)
So what is left?

The BEST hot chocolate with whip cream ever!  At Paula Deens in
Cherokee, NC  I love it!

What?  I don't play the games at the Arcade with the kids....lol

Hey, that great scarf is from "Charming Charlies"
And that great cashmere sweater is from GAP (I got it at Goodwill and it still had the tags on)
I am reading "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"- loving it so far!

Rules Are Lame

Today, I'm joining the rule breaking party over at I'm Clothed Much.  Hop on over there and see everyone else's rule breaking outfits!!

And on a serious note, I'm asking for prayers and good thoughts from all of you for my community. In a tragic accident, a 14 year old died this weekend. He was cutting grass and got into some soft dirt and the lawnmower turned over on him, breaking his neck.  This was a terrific, wonderful kid. He was well liked and loved by kids and adults. My daughter is really good friends with his sister. It's been a pretty rough weekend.

Thanks, Everyone.

I'm Sorry, Do We Know You?

Remember me?  I'm Lise and am the other 1/2 of this blog. First of all, Ida is just fine. I appreciate all the thoughts and concern for her and for me.  I have been missing all of you!! We've just been really busy! The kids were on Spring Break and we went camping in Cherokee and made a day trip over the mountain to Dollywood-but that's a post for another day. Whew! It's been crazy! But now, I think we're back on schedule.

Right now I am reading a great book (I could spend the rest of my life reading!)
My sister Carol loaned it to me and y'all need to read it!
Peace Like A River by Leif Enger

I am also addicted to tunic tops (no big surprise there) and this is my favorite (today).  Great for lounging and then taking off for a lunch outing or girls night out.  How great is that?  Kaja is my photographer and once again picks up all the great little details of the outfit!  I love the beading also, Kaja.

Aren't these great flip flops?  Payless!  And I got them during BOGO!  Wow, I have huge feet!
The leggings and t-shirt are from ATL and are sooooo comfy!  It's like wearing pj's!   Speaking of which.....

Yesterday morning I dropped my 4 kids off at 3 schools and look at the gas gauge. Waaay past empty. I pull into the gas station, hop out and it hits me. I'm in my pj's, no shoes, no makeup....nothing. *sigh*
The lady at the pump next to me leans over and says "Honey, I've had bad mornings, but I ain't NEVAH left lookin' like that".   To which I replied "They're cute pajama's".  Like that explained EVERYTHING!!! LOLOL

Have you ever had mornings like that?  So what books are you reading?

Breaking All The Rules!

If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun.
Katharine Hepburn

So today I broke all the rules. Maybe not ALL the rules....and Well, not really today. It was yesterday actually. Today, I was firmly following the rules...maybe...oh, wait, there was that library fine from overdue books....so MOST of the day, I was following the rules!!

Anyway. How did I break the rules, you ask? I wore stripes OVER stripes AND I wore white pants before Easter!! I'll give you a minute to stop choking from clutching your pearls...

 Blue cardi: Target
Red shirt: Belks
White capris: Land's End
Red Sandals: Target

It's a rule, at least in the South anyway, that one should not wear white pants and/or shoes before Easter or after Labor Day. I'm not sure who made this rule but I don't like it. And I break it every year. In my opinion,  once it's over 80's, one can wear white with impunity!! And yes, it's been over 80 here several days already. And we'll have those days well into October!

The stripes over stripes, I'm still unsure about. I wanted to wear the new red striped shirt that I got on CLEARANCE but it is still cool in the mornings. So I threw the blue cardi over it. I don't think it's too bad. It's not great, but it's not bad.

What do you think? Have you broken any "rules" lately?

Long Time No See!!

Hello, Everyone!! Yes, we've been seriously absent! The kids have been on spring break and I've had no photographer in the mornings! Lise has been to Dollywood. And well, we've just been slackers! I really don't have anything to post about today, either. BUT our good friend, Leah, that made our gorgeously awesome flower pins has some things that we'd like to share with y'all. So please hop on over to her blog and see the cute things she has now. And her kids are OMG so cute, too! And I'm sure if you ask her nicely, she'll sell you some of these cute buttons and bows.

Leah's Bizzy-Beth blog!  Here's a sample:

Hopefully, this week, we'll get back in the groove!! We've missed you all!!
